Royal visit for Team Humber

6 April 2019

English newspapers are enthusiastic. 'Royal approval for the pipeline under the Humber' is in the headlines about Princess Anne's visit to the River Humber Gas Pipeline Replacement Project on April 1, 2019. The Princess Royal was very impressed by the work on the pipeline, which will soon transport one fifth of all British gas through a 5-kilometre-long tunnel under the Humber River.

National Grids project director Steve Ellison is also more than satisfied with the royal visit. He calls it an enormous privilege to receive Her Royal Highness. Especially because she acknowledges that the project is an incredibly strong example of engineering and crucial for the energy supply of the United Kingdom.

A.Hak, Skanska and PORR Bau, the members of the joint venture responsible for the construction of the pipeline in the tunnel, each sent a delegation to attend the royal visit. The picture shows, from left to right, Remco Smit (CEO A.Hak), Hans Wenkenbach (COO PORR) and Gregor Craig (President & CEO Skanska UK). In the background, the pipes are ready in eight enormous strings of over 600 metres each.
