Construction driven engineering

New method bears fruit
During the construction of the Norgron-line for client NAM an innovative process has been deployed and used, called ‘construction driven engineering’. The essence of this method is that it allows us to apply our knowledge and expertise from the initial stages of the project.

The gas pipeline between the gas field of Groningen and gas storage Norg is simply called "Norgron. A.Hak Pipelines & Facilities was from the beginning of the construction of the pipeline involved in the engineering and permit applications. Through construction driven engineering we were able to correctly and successfully apply our decades of experience in the field of pipeline construction as early as the engineering phase.

Technical puzzle
In a more traditional approach, the of a contractor usually starts after the engineering and licensing procedures have been completed. At Norgron we have solved the technical puzzle together with the client. We thought, together with all stakeholders, about the best way to construct the pipeline. From day one we also were involved in consultations with relevant organizations.

Safely, on schedule and within budget
Because of construction driven engineering we didn’t encounter any major problems. This method proved to be a good way to complete projects safely, on time and within budget. This is underlined by a particularly high Achilles FPAL score in the report that reflected our performance: only eights and nines.

Photobook
We made a photobook about the construction of the pipeline. You can take a look underneath:
